Ramblings of a tired man
On Sunday, 2 weeks after my last race, I made the decision to sign up for the Around the Bay 30k Road Race. During those 2 weeks, I pretty much sat on my ass “recovering” (not gonna lie – it was pretty sweet). Since then…
Sunday: Full body resistance. I think I did every lift I know. I did just sign up for a race, after all
Monday: 10k “slow” training run with my wife. 1:10:04 – just a hair off my PB race time. So much for “slow”
Tuesday: 1500m in the pool. 24minutes (or 1:30/100m). Usually I only swim 1000m, but this morning I was feeling a bit extra
It’s funny, when you sign up for something new how excited you get – ready to jump right into the deep end. Or in my case, more like swam-dive-off-the-high-diving-board-that-ends-up-in-a-belly-flop-into-the-deep-end. I’m pooped.
Tomorrow I’m supposed to do The Stairs… we’ll see. If I can get through it, Thursday will be a well earned day off. I’m looking forward to Thursday’s trip to Detroit with the boys for the Lion’s Thanksgiving game. Tailgating starts at 9:30am – thank goodness it’s a scheduled rest day.
An early Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends (and to anyone up here taking the opportunity for a 2nd turkey dinner). Hope everyone has a wonderful day with family and friends. Go Lions!
Have you ever gone overboard right after signing up for something new?
Signing up for a race or even always lights a fire inside, doesn’t it? Since registering for the NYC Triathlon, I’ve stepped up my swimming and biking, even though I’m still in the process of building a solid base.
wow. that pool swim sounds awesome!
